PRIMARY FOCUS / ROLE

Outreach to unchurched / disinterested college-aged young adults

THE WHY

Around 70% of young adults raised in the church step away from their faith during their college years. With culture and college campuses becoming increasingly challenging for the Christian faith, and college students experiencing widespread loneliness, anxiety, and depression, YL College seeks to meet students in their world to build genuine relationships of trust, earning the right to be heard, and inviting them to (re)discover their true identity, purpose, and sense of belonging.

CURRENT PRAYER NEEDS

1. Recruiting more adults to pray for and support YL College's outreach & discipleship of college-aged young adults across Colorado Springs
2. Potential new ministry launch at the US Air Force Academy
3. Andy Morrison (Director) leading 50 college student volunteers to serve at camp this summer.
4. New community connections to provide local support for college ministry.
5. Incoming class of freshmen in August 2026, and YL College presence on campus to meet and welcome them into community.

MISSION STATEMENT / WHAT THEY DO

YL College's mission is to introduce college-aged students to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. We believe that every student deserves to know the love of Jesus, and by stepping into their worlds, building genuine friendships, and inviting them into community, adventurous activities, and discipleship designed to support young adults through a highly transitional period in their lives.

RECENT STORY OR TESTIMONY

In December 2025, Michael -a senior engineering student at UCCS- unexpectedly reached out to Jonah, a classmate who served as a volunteer leader with YL College. Although the two didn’t know each other well, Michael trusted Jonah enough to open up about some of the struggles he had been carrying: questions of faith, a difficult breakup, and uncertainty about purpose and direction in life.  Jonah invited him to YL College Club that week, where Michael quickly connected with other students, found community, and was welcomed into a weekly guys small group Bible study. Soon after, he became the first student to sign up for the YL College Spring Break trip to Austin, TX.  Over the following months, through consistent friendships, community, encouragement, and conversations about faith, Michael experienced a deep sense of belonging and support. After returning from Spring Break, he shared that he “had no idea how much he needed a community like YL College” — not only for everyday friendship and encouragement, but for support during some of the most uncertain moments of his life.  Soon after, Michael expressed interest in becoming a volunteer Young Life leader himself, hoping to invite other students into the same kind of life-changing community he had experienced. As he put it, “I know so many other students who really need a community like this.”
